Todd Kramer, Head Coach

Todd first joined the Marlins coaching staff as the Silver group coach in the fall of 2002. He was hired as the Head Coach of the Marlins in the spring of 2005. During Todd's time as Head Coach the Marlins have seen an increase in the number of Division 2, Division 1, Zones, and Sectional qualifiers.

In the summer of 2007 the Marlins had their first swimmer score points at a Sectional championship meet since 1994, as well as having a swimmer qualify for the Junior National championships for the first time since 1994. Marlins swimmers have consistently placed in the top three at the Kansas High School state championship meet. Marlins swimmers have also had very good success in college, including a Division 2 NCAA All-American last year.

Todd came to Manhattan from Kansas City, Kansas where began swimming competitively at the age of seven for the Lenexa Lazers, and continued swimming in high school for Shawnee Mission West. During high school he qualified for the state championships in multiple events, and won a medal his senior year at the state championships in the 200 Medley Relay. He began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant coach for the Shawnee Mission West girl's swim team in 2000 and 2001. He then coached for the Lenexa Lazers swim team for the summers of 2001 and 2002. Todd graduated from Kansas State University in 2005 with a degree in economics.

His inspiration for becoming a coach was his high school coach, Doug Brown, who passed away in 2003 after a battle with cancer.

Brice Ruiz, Assistant Coach

Brice joined the Marlins coaching staff in the spring of 2005. Since starting with the Marlins the Silver group has seen very good growth, as the number of Division 2, Division 1, and Zone qualifers from this group have increased during Brice's tenure.

During his junior and senior years, Brice earned a gold medal in the 100 Breast, a silver medal in the 100 Fly, and a bronze medal in the 100 Breast at the Eastern Kansas Leagues. His senior year, he placed second in the 100 Breast at State Finals and also placed in the medley relay and 400 relay. Brice was named to the first team Eastern Kansas Leagues, first team all Sun Country, second team all Metro, and first team all Johnson County. That same year, he placed 13th in the 200 Breast and 14th in the 100 Breast at Region VIII’s.

Carla joined the Marlins coaching staff in the spring of 2005. Carla has done a fantastic job so far as the coach of the Bronze 1 and Bronze 2 groups for the Marlins. The swimmers in her groups have all seen great improvements in stroke technique, and we have seen many of Carla's swimmers go on to qualify for the Division 2 and Division 1 Championship meets.

Carla started swimming when she was seven years old at Tallgrass Country Club in Wichita, KS. She enjoyed it so much that she began swimming at the Wichita Swim Club. In high school, Carla swam for Wichita Trinity Academy. At state, she swam in the 100 backstroke and butterfly in the medley relay. Carla was also a proud member of the 2004 state championship team.
