School Sponsored Sports

Families of swimmers participating in school-sponsored sports programs can receive special consideration of their swim team fee assessment. However, the circumstances of participation need to be discussed with the Head Coach to find a suitable fee structure.

High School Swimmer Participation

Swimmers wanting to swim with the Manhattan Marlins swim team before their high school season begins will be allowed to enroll in the program at the beginning of the swimming quarter. As with all swimmers, lane placement will be determined by the head coach, based on swimming ability.

Scholarship Program

The Manhattan Marlins swim team provides a scholarship program to families in need. These families may complete the scholarship application form and submit it to the Board of Directors for approval. Scholarships can be renewed on an annual basis following re-application by the participant. Scholarship form

The Manhattan Breakfast Optimist Club sponsors one scholarship for the Manhattan Marlins swim team. We want to thank the Optimist Club for their continued support.

Delinquency Policy

Fees are expected to be paid by the 15th of the month. Fees past due will be charged a late fee of $10 unless some type of arrangements have been made with the treasurer. There is a $15 late fee for all accounts 60 days past due. Accounts 90 days past due will be cause for removal of all swimmers in the family from practice and meets until the account is paid and/or arrangements have been made with the treasurer. In addition, all accounts 90 days past due may be subject to having the account turned over to a collection agency.

USA Swimming Registration Fee

This fee will establish the swimmer’s amateur status as a competitive swimmer and provide insurance coverage during swim practice sessions and swim meets. This non-refundable fee is due at registration. The US Swimming/Missouri Valley Registration form must be completed and fees paid before a swimmer may participate in any team practice session or be registered for a meet.

Volunteer Service Hours

In addition to monthly fees, each family is required to support the team by working 80 service hours per year or 20 per quarter. Volunteer hours can be carried forward for one year from date of service. The value of each volunteer service hour is $5. If your family would prefer to pay for this, rather than work, the cost would be $400 per year or $100 per quarter. We encourage all families to fulfill their service hour obligation by volunteering with the many team activities and events. This is a great way to meet new people and be more involved in your child’s swimming experience.

Please remember, it is the responsibility of each family to report their service hours to the Volunteer Coordinator. Her e-mail address is lange_5_999@hotmail.com.

Volunteer Hours may be earned as follows:

  • Working at one of the team-sponsored events.
  • Working as a timer or official at swim meets hosted by other swim teams
  • Volunteering for one of the numerous tasks that arise throughout the year. Watch the newsletter and email for volunteer opportunities.
  • Bringing in a paid sponsor during the fall fund-raising drive. (For each $5 raised, one hour credit for service is earned.)
  • Raising money in the swimathon. (For each $5 raised, one hour credit for service is earned.)
  • Donating food and drink items for the meet. Cost of food items and time spent preparing count toward volunteer hours.
  • If you have additional skills you feel may benefit the club, please let us know.

We’re so pleased to welcome you to the Manhattan Marlins swim team. Please contact the head coach or president if you have any questions.
